The collection consists of six modules – one left and one right sofa, a lounge chair, an ottoman, coffee table, and side table – that can be rearranged into the perfect setup.
The bases of each piece rest at the same level to create a linear and modern feel. The powder coated aluminum frames have tilted backrests for relaxation that appear visually light while the dark gray upholstered cushions suggest comfort.

After a conversation <a href="http://www.patriciaurquiola.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Patricia Urquiola</a> had regarding Danish designer Nanna Ditzel and her <a href="https://www.kettal.com/en/particular/blogpost/kettaleditsthebasketchairbynannaditzel/N/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Basket chair</a> from the 1950s, she designed the <a href="https://www.kettal.com/en/particular/blogpost/viminidepatriciaurquiolaen/N/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Vimini</a> outdoor collection for <a href="https://www.kettal.com/en/particular/index/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Kettal</a> with the hope that their similarities might conjure up feelings of home. Overall, the collection is modern with moments of tradition that make it feel like an &#8220;object of memory&#8221;.
The basket-like structures of the seating inspired the Vimini name, which is Italian for ‘wicker’, as well as rhyming with Bimini, an island that Urquiola enjoys. The pieces feature wooden frames with woven wicker basket-like seats that hold cushions for additional comfort. The collection includes sofas, dining chairs, and side tables.

LaCividina Launches New Upholstered Seating at Milan Design Week

Italian furniture brand <a href="http://www.lacividina.com/en/index" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">LaCividina</a> debuted two new collections of upholstered seating at Milan Design Week 2018 designed by German designer <a href="http://www.sebastianherkner.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Sebastian Herkner</a> and French designer <a href="http://www.constanceguisset.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Constance Guisset</a>.
Soave marks Sebastian Herkner’s second collection with LaCividina and it includes a series of armchairs and sofas in various sizes but only one depth. Each piece’s depth is limited giving them more of a sculptural appearance. The curvy upholstered elements are elliptical in shape and paired with narrow metal legs that give a sense of lightness. Constance Guisset’s Waves is a series of poufs that reference natural landscapes, like ocean waves and smooth rocks in bold colors. The poufs are modular and can be used individually or in groups to create a custom configuration. Each pouf is outfitted with a magnet that allows them to be connected together.

GAN Partners with Neri&Hu on a New Sofa Typology

The collection, called <a href="https://www.gan-rugs.com/en/salone-invitation-2018/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">LAN</a>, challenges the idea of what we normally think of in a sofa by breaking it down into modules that can fit together in various ways.
LAN also sets itself apart with an indigo color palette, which inspired its name as ‘lan’ means blue in Mandarin. The rug is an important part of their LAN equation and the perfect spot to organize the pieces around. The seating modules rest close to the floor and can be changed up by adding different cushions and a tray to hold a drink. Dividers are designed to visually separate a space or to hang out behind the seating modules as a backdrop.

When creating the <a href="http://www.talentisrl.com/portfolio-articoli/cottage-collection/?lang=en" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Cottage Collection</a>, <a href="http://www.ramonesteve.com/en" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Ramón Esteve Estudio</a> imagined the American West with farms and ranches where oversized lounge chairs would mostly likely be found. The series, designed for <a href="http://www.talentisrl.com/?lang=en" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Talenti</a>, references that same relaxing countryside vibe but with a contemporary spin.
The pieces in the collection combine materials like aluminum and plastic with the more traditional rope with the aim to find a place in the user’s memories, as if it had always been there. The Cottage Collection includes a Living Armchair, Lounge Armchair, Pour, Sofa, Sunbed, Side Table, and two Coffee Tables, available in a variety of finishes and fabrics.

HUM combines beech wood, rattan, and velvet with a modern color palette that leads to cozy seating full of contrasts.
HUM includes a lounge armchair, three-seater sofa, and chaise lounge, each with beech-framed woven cane backs and sides, displaying a use of light and heavier materials. The smoothness of the velvet with the more textured woven cane results in a visual contrast, as does the choice of bright orange and deep green fabrics for the cushion.

The curvy sofa was inspired by the natural beauty of Puglia, including its warm brown soil that enriches the olive trees. Its rounded back and sides aim to feel like a cocoon around the user while its reddish-brown leather and saddle stitching offer additional tailored coziness.

With people moving from place to place, especially city dwellers, furniture needs to work in a multitude of situations. It&#8217;s easy to go out there and spend less on disposable furniture every time we move, but it&#8217;s money down the drain and more trash in our overly filled landfills. Enter <a href="https://civilspace.com/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">CIVIL</a>. They&#8217;re a furniture brand that&#8217;s decided to explore a different approach – modular furniture for modular people – focusing on clean lines and accessibility for today&#8217;s nomadic culture. While the CIVIL brand calls New York City home, their Scandinavian roots run deep as third generation Norwegian furniture makers. Their heritage runs throughout their designs, as well as the way they run the business, aiming to bring the best furniture possible to more people without cutting any corners.
For those of us that love modern design, you know how high the prices can be, making it quite a stretch sometimes.

United States-based <a href="http://danaoliving.com/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Danao Living</a> is a Bali-inspired outdoor furniture manufacturer that recently partnered with award-winning Los Angeles designer <a href="http://www.annvering.com/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Ann Marie Vering</a> on the <a href="http://danaoliving.com/collections/cuff/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Cuff Collection</a>. The eight-piece Cuff series of seating and tables looks to the curves in indigenous wrist bangles, which led its name.
The curvy frames are constructed in stainless steel and finished with a semi-transparent custom weave that lets just enough light and air pass through. The sophisticated silhouettes rest low to the ground but are elevated slightly to give the appearance of being visually lightweight.

CARMENES Releases the Numeral Collection by Savage

<a href="http://www.carmenes.eu/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">CARMENES</a> is launching a new furniture collection, Easy Living 01, during this year&#8217;s IMM Cologne. Part of that release is the Numeral collection which consists of a modular sofa and a series of tables designed by <a href="http://www.savage.es/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Savage</a>. As part of Easy Living 01, the pieces aim to encourage comfort, serenity, and well-being through quality and innovative design.
The Numeral sofa was inspired by the 1950s with its low profile, clean lines, curvy shapes, and simple metal legs, but with a contemporary spin. The modular design includes a system of seating options including sofas, armchairs, and poufs that can be arranged into a custom configuration. The Numeral Tables are designed to enhance the sofas of the same name by being their companions. The metal tables come in three shapes – rectangular, circular, and square – and are made to be arranged separately or in groupings for a sculptural effect.
