Designed by Danish designer Henrik Pedersen for <a href="https://houe.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">HOUE</a>, the <a href="https://houe.com/Products/Outdoor-Lounge" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">LEVEL Outdoor Lounge</a> is a modular seating system for the outdoors with the ability to create endless configurations. The collection consists of six modules – one left and one right sofa, a lounge chair, an ottoman, coffee table, and side table – that can be rearranged into the perfect setup.
The bases of each piece rest at the same level to create a linear and modern feel. The powder coated aluminum frames have tilted backrests for relaxation that appear visually light while the dark gray upholstered cushions suggest comfort.

Emanuele Magini’s Anish Hides a Chair Within Its Circular Frame

At first glance, the piece appears to be an oversized circular frame with fabric, perhaps a sculpture, but upon closer inspection, a clever chair is revealed.
The metal frame supports a ring of elasticized fabric with a seat hidden behind it. The design is meant to welcome the user while also creating a sense of separation with its large back. Some might be confused by it while others will attempt to investigate what it is and when they do, they’ll find a seat waiting for them.

Kettal Releases the Patricia Urquiola Designed Vimini Collection

After a conversation <a href="http://www.patriciaurquiola.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Patricia Urquiola</a> had regarding Danish designer Nanna Ditzel and her <a href="https://www.kettal.com/en/particular/blogpost/kettaleditsthebasketchairbynannaditzel/N/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Basket chair</a> from the 1950s, she designed the <a href="https://www.kettal.com/en/particular/blogpost/viminidepatriciaurquiolaen/N/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Vimini</a> outdoor collection for <a href="https://www.kettal.com/en/particular/index/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Kettal</a> with the hope that their similarities might conjure up feelings of home. Overall, the collection is modern with moments of tradition that make it feel like an &#8220;object of memory&#8221;.
The basket-like structures of the seating inspired the Vimini name, which is Italian for ‘wicker’, as well as rhyming with Bimini, an island that Urquiola enjoys. The pieces feature wooden frames with woven wicker basket-like seats that hold cushions for additional comfort. The collection includes sofas, dining chairs, and side tables.

In 2014, <a href="http://www.hayonstudio.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Jaime Hayon</a> launched the <a href="http://www.expormim.com/en/627/frames.html" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Frames</a> collection for <a href="http://www.expormim.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Expormim</a> and four years later, he&#8217;s expanding it to include new armchairs and dining chairs. Made entirely of rattan, a material that&#8217;s been used in handcrafted furniture for centuries, the chairs display a modern approach of the traditional material, helping to reframe the perception of how it can be used.

To round out the collection, they’ve added a dining chair, a dining armchair, and a low backrest armchair, each with structures and legs made from natural rattan. The seats and backrests feature an “octagonal wicker” pattern that’s finished in rattan. The chairs come in a variety of solid colors and have an optional cushion available for purchase.

The sculptural collection aims to evoke feelings of serenity by referencing “the threshold between heaven and earth,” much like the overall ethos of the brand. Archibong incorporates soft palettes and scaled-back forms with rounded edges offering an inviting feel. While Sé is already known for use of luxury materials, Archibong reimagined them through simple silhouettes and unexpected details that result in a new notable series of work Sé will proudly produce. LaCividina Launches New Upholstered Seating at Milan Design Week

Italian furniture brand <a href="http://www.lacividina.com/en/index" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">LaCividina</a> debuted two new collections of upholstered seating at Milan Design Week 2018 designed by German designer <a href="http://www.sebastianherkner.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Sebastian Herkner</a> and French designer <a href="http://www.constanceguisset.com/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Constance Guisset</a>.
Soave marks Sebastian Herkner’s second collection with LaCividina and it includes a series of armchairs and sofas in various sizes but only one depth. Each piece’s depth is limited giving them more of a sculptural appearance. The curvy upholstered elements are elliptical in shape and paired with narrow metal legs that give a sense of lightness. Constance Guisset’s Waves is a series of poufs that reference natural landscapes, like ocean waves and smooth rocks in bold colors. The poufs are modular and can be used individually or in groups to create a custom configuration. Each pouf is outfitted with a magnet that allows them to be connected together.

Tokujin Yoshioka Reveals Transparent 3D Printed MATRIX Chair for Kartell

Fresh off of last year&#8217;s MATRIX launch, designer <a href="http://www.tokujin.com/en/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Tokujin Yoshioka</a> has expanded the collection for Kartell to include a transparent MATRIX chair and high stool. The new pieces combine a sculptural resin seat with wood or metal legs resulting in an icy, ethereal aesthetic.
The innovative seat is created using an injection molding technique that merges two layers of rod-shaped acrylic resin into the three-dimensional, matrix-like structure you see in the finished project. The original MATRIX chair came in red, black, and white plastic versions while the new version comes in acrylic resin, which has never been used in this type of chair design before.

GAN Partners with Neri&Hu on a New Sofa Typology

                                                <a href="https://design-milk.com/gan-partners-with-nerihu-on-a-new-sofa-typology/lan-sofa-nerihu-gan-2/" data-wpel-link="internal"><img src="https://design-milk.com/images/2018/04/LAN-sofa-NeriHu-Gan-2-810x432.jpg" alt="GAN Partners with Neri&#038;Hu on a New Sofa Typology" /></a>
<a href="https://www.gan-rugs.com/en/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">GAN</a> recently enlisted the talents of design studio <a href="http://www.neriandhu.com/index_cn.php" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Neri&amp;Hu</a>, who designed a collection of seating modules, rugs, and dividers. The collection, called <a href="https://www.gan-rugs.com/en/salone-invitation-2018/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">LAN</a>, challenges the idea of what we normally think of in a sofa by breaking it down into modules that can fit together in various ways.
LAN also sets itself apart with an indigo color palette, which inspired its name as ‘lan’ means blue in Mandarin. The rug is an important part of their LAN equation and the perfect spot to organize the pieces around. The seating modules rest close to the floor and can be changed up by adding different cushions and a tray to hold a drink. Dividers are designed to visually separate a space or to hang out behind the seating modules as a backdrop.

Bright Potato’s ArNO Wireframe Chair Features Expressive Lines

Launching at this year&#8217;s SaloneSatellite during Salone Del Mobile, the ArNO Chair features bold lines suggesting movement, much like a summer breeze. The wireframe design, by <a href="http://brightpotato.com/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Bright Potato</a>, references argon, nitrogen, and oxygen (ArNO), three of the elements that make up the Earth&#8217;s atmosphere, i.e. the air around us, combining expressive lines with negative space.
The carefree stackable chair is lightweight and durable, designed to be used indoors and outdoors, in any atmosphere you choose.

Monica Förster Design Studio merges a curvy, overstuffed seat with blade-thin metal legs for a contrasting look in the Kashan chair for Bernhardt Design. It was designed to span the decades by not having a defined style that referenced any specific time period. It looks comfortable yet refined, playful yet restrained, giving it both a futuristic and classic appearance. The super thin legs supporting the plump form makes it look as if the seat is floating above the ground. The chair is outfitted with a custom suspension spring seat from high-density molded foam for elevated comfort.
