                                Roxanne is arguably <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T1c7GkzRQQ" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">one of the most famous songs ever</a> performed by the Police and it was this exact song that inspired the <a href="http://www.gufram.it/en/gufram-roxanne-michael-young.php" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Roxanne</a> armchair designed by <a href="http://www.michael-young.com/roxanne/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Michael Young</a> for <a href="http://www.gufram.it/en/index.php" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Gufram</a>. Because of their expertise in working with polyurethane foam, Gufram was actually one of the main suppliers for Italian discos in the 70’s and worked with imaginative and eccentric Italian designers to design innovative seating.
The new Roxanne armchair is characterized by a groove along the perimeter of the seat called The Tube that’s useful as a pocket for purses, phones or documents, making it an ideal choice for clubs, restaurants, hotel lobbies and lounges. Made completely from polyurethane foam, the armchair has an ergonomically friendly design that’s comfortable and inviting to sit in.

                                Dutch designers Wiebe Boonstra and Marc van Nederpelt, of <a href="http://www.dumoffice.com/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Dumoffice</a>, designed a seating collection for Belgian brand <a href="http://buzzi.space/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">BuzziSpace</a> that gives a modern spin on traditional woven cane chairs. <a href="http://buzzi.space/buzzicane/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">BuzziCane</a> comprises a sofa (two or three seater) and chair with vintage-inspired woven cane backs and plush upholstered cushions.
The dark wooden frame and base house the natural cane for a contemporary contrast, while the velvety cushions come in a variety of fabrics and colors. The result is a comfortable, modern seat for a workspace or living room.

                                CAPRI is an outdoor collection of modern furniture designed by <a href="http://matteothunatelier.com/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Matteo Thun Atelier</a> for Italian brand <a href="http://verywood.it/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Very Wood</a>. Made of iroko wood, the pieces feature clean lines and timeless silhouettes that are perfect for home patios or hotel terraces. The warm wooden structures are paired with upholstered cushions available in 25 pattern/color variants, but we&#8217;re partial to the one featured in the images – a graphic, monochromatic print.
The iroko wood is given an oil finish which intensifies its rich color and keeps it protected in the outdoor environment. As with most wood left outside, the finish will develop a natural patina over time. The CAPRI collection includes: 2 and 3 seat sofas, lounge armchair, dining chair with armrests, stool, dining tables, coffee side table, pouf, and sun bed. Photos by Max Rommel.

The personality-filled designs have a futuristic feel with strong geometry, bold silhouettes, and metallic colors.

Castanera&#8217;s contribution is the <a href="http://www.victorcastanera.com/Velar-lounge-chair" data-wpel-link="external"  rel="external noopener noreferrer">Velar lounge chair</a>, which was inspired by &#8220;the proportions and the duality of dimensions and shapes that Velar has between the body and the cabin of the car.&#8221;
While the seat and the back are constructed of the same material, the two components are made in entirely different ways. The seat is made from solid ash wood with a fairly flat base that curves up to create the sides of the chair. The back is a bent wood veneer that appears thinner for a more delicate look. Much like the Range Rover Velar, the chair’s design is complex with careful attention paid to every detail.

Design Milk caught up with him to find out more… What is the most important thing to know about you? Things take time, and that is the mantra I try to live by. I try to be patient and not hurry things. That comes naturally to me now, but for ten years I struggled with it – maybe it is learned. I try to create so many designs but the goal for me right now is to stop and live out in the fresh air for three months, then I feel I can design something again. Outdoor Sunday Lounge Chairs by Revolution Design House

                                                <a href="http://design-milk.com/outdoor-sunday-lounge-chairs-by-revolution-design-house/revolution-design-house-sunday-lounge-1-side-chair/" data-wpel-link="internal"><img src="http://3.design-milk.com/images/2017/07/Revolution-Design-House-Sunday-Lounge-1-Side-Chair-810x540.jpg" alt="Outdoor Sunday Lounge Chairs by Revolution Design House" /></a>
                                You know those <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=aluminum+lawn+chairs&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwia1JvdwqXVAhWqilQKHYkhCyoQ_AUICygC&amp;biw=1026&amp;bih=719" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">aluminum lawn chairs</a> that have been a part of just about everyone&#8217;s family for the last 50+ years? Portland, Oregon-based <a href="http://revolutiondesignhouse.com/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Revolution Design House</a> has reimagined that classic into a modern outdoor chair that will stand the test of time. The Sunday Lounge chairs give nod to those iconic staples while bringing a contemporary spin to them.
The steel chairs have a laser cut pattern that gives the illusion of woven straps, except these “straps” won’t fray over time and break. These also skip the folding aspect helping to increase the stability and comfort for lounging around, while also giving the seat wider dimensions. The Sunday Lounge comes as a Side Chair and an Armchair. The chairs are made of powder coated steel frames in a wide variety of colors with optional Sunbrella upholstered outdoor cushions. Ukrainian design firm <a href="https://www.studio-pine.com/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">StudioPINE</a> looked to delicious pastries when designing their <a href="https://www.behance.net/gallery/53392241/Cake-sofas-armchairs" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">CAKE Collection</a> of furniture. The collection consists of a series of enticing sofas and armchairs that are soft and curvy, much like a cake would be.
The sofa is oblong in shape, while the chairs are circular, both with backs that curve around to form the armrests. Shiny tubular chrome forms the base and legs, contrasting the rich green upholstery.

Playful Seating Inspired by Log Cabins

                                Do you remember <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Logs" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Lincoln Logs</a> from when you were a kid? That&#8217;s what immediately comes to mind, well that and log cabins, when taking a look at the Cabin Lounges from <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">DesignByThem</a>. <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/collections/the-designers/products/sarah-gibson" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Sarah Gibson</a> &amp; <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/collections/the-designers/products/nicholas-karlovasitis" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Nicholas Karlovasitis</a>, who go by GibsonKarlo, are the founders of DesignByThem and their latest release features <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/collections/seating/products/cabin-armchair" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">armchairs</a>, <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/collections/seating/products/cabin-lounge" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">lounges</a>, <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/collections/seating/products/cabin-ottoman" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">ottomans</a>, and a <a href="https://www.designbythem.com/collections/seating/products/cabin-booth" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">booth</a>, all of which look as if they were built like a log cabin, hence their name. Each of the pieces is made of a series of upholstered &#8220;log&#8221; modules that stack in an intersecting pattern, much like the way a log cabin is constructed.
The idea began as a series of cylinders from a deconstructed cabin, which they arranged to create various types of seating. They experimented to get the diameter of the cylinders correct to maximize comfort for the back and armrests.
