What makes the Crease range unique is that it’s made to magnetically snap to the underside of a grid that can attach directly under pre-existing ceiling tiles. Made from recycled polyester plastic (a majority of which comes from recycled water bottles), the drop ceiling tiles add dimension and texture while also concealing the grid itself. Multidisciplinary agency Studio Y reached out to lighting consultants ambience when they were moving into a new office in Bundoora, Victoria, Australia. The two studios worked together, with Studio Y handling the interior design and ambience creating the, well, ambiance that needs #nofilter on Instagram. They reimagined the workspace so that it almost feels like you’re inside a prism surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colorful lights. The best part is that it evolves throughout the day as the light changes.
Smaller spaces were defined through the use of bright pastel colors and windows clad with dichroic film that looks differently depending on where you’re standing. Through layering and angles, visual perceptions can be skewed to reveal mesmerizing optical illusions. As the sun shifts, light and shadows combine with colors for an immersive environment that’s dynamic and ever-changing and bound to spark creativity. Photos by Ben Glezer.

Contract furniture tends to be fairly expensive and costs can add up for small businesses every time they add an employee or two or need to reconfigure their setup. Plus, with more companies moving towards open plan offices and some on the move frequently as their businesses grow, it’s important for them to invest in furniture that’s flexible or multi-functional. That said, we went out on a hunt to find some practical furniture options for the office that can either pull double duty or are flexible so they be used in different ways.
Heartwork’s SQUARE desk system can be reconfigured into endless variations of workstations, conference tables, and even as a ping pong table. It’s designed so that it can easily be put together or taken apart with only a quarter – so, if you don’t need it for a spell, it can be stored flat. You can also choose

After working in a home office for a number of years, architect Randy Bens decided it was time to expand his practice in New Westminster, BC. Instead of renting a commercial office, he chose to make use of his backyard where he’d still be in close proximity to home. The solution? A modified shipping container that became its own self-sufficient hub complete with a bathroom, kitchenette, and an open studio space.
Watch the install: The shipping container was designed offsite and delivered to its resting spot about 95% complete. The new office offers additional space for employees, more room to spread out, and the perfect spot to meet with clients and contractors. The oversized corten steel shipping container spans 40′ long, 11.5′ wide, and 9.5′ high and is built to last making it a smart option, especially if they decide to move and carry it to the new

Between constant chatter, machines humming, and general movement, companies continue to seek ways to reduce noise levels in their offices and while there are plenty of options out there, few are doing it like Belgian brand Buzzispace. They’re always taking a creative route when it comes to acoustical solutions, furniture, and lighting for the workplace and their latest release even goes a step further. They enlisted American designer Cory Grosser who decided to take an organic approach to the age-old noise problem. Instead of looking to textiles for a solution, Grosser turned to nature, more specifically, preserved reindeer moss for a primary material. BuzziMood also takes on the living wall trend but where it differs is that the moss is low-maintenance as it needs no water.
Greenery has proven to increase the happiness and well-being of workers, and BuzziMood, like its name suggests, aims to offer more relaxing environments through

The project included renovating the industrial space while keeping the original character of the building, like exposed brick, wooden beams, and exposed ductwork and mechanics that keep the office running.
The interior boasts skylights and large windows that allow natural daylight to enter and fill the space. A large moss-covered wall brings an organic element into the industrial interior. A massive staircase and stadium seating connect two of the floors through an open atrium. The office has mobile meeting rooms that can be rolled to other spaces for smaller groups or just additional privacy. They also have semi-private cubbies that allow for Skype meetings and phone calls that won’t disturb people around them. Photos by Ema Peter.
