Upon Hadid's death, Schumacher and five of the architect's relatives were each left a portion of her earnings. The remainder of her estate was to be held in trust for up to 125 years, with Schumacher, Palumbo, Hadid, and Clarke, given full discretion over its allocation. In response to the court proceedings, the three executors stood firm against Schumacher with a statement made public by architecture critic Oliver Wainwirght
Schumacher, who reportedly resigned as director of the Zaha Hadid Foundation back in June, is being accused by the other stewards of trying to gain financially by going to court to oust them. The two have been at odds since Hadid's confidantes distanced themselves Continue reading "Patrik Schumacher sues for control over Zaha Hadid’s estate"

Temperatures are dropping which means it’s time for “Operation Cozy,” a time when throw blankets are brought out, candles are lit, and staying in seems like a better option than heading out. Since it’s officially candle season (we declared it), we searched to find 10 modern candles we’d love to bring in as a new addition or to gift to someone on our holiday list.

Casa CCFF. Latest project by Leopold Banchini Architects by Leopold Banchini Architects

Casa CCFF is a domestic factory floating above an untouched garden. Mimicking the surrounding industrial shed roofs, the large open volume is filled with sunlight. The views to the exterior are carefully framed to create a brightly lit intimacy in this highly urban environment. On the first floor, two interior gardens divide the living spaces and bring nature at the heart of the house. Overlaying transparencies blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. Under the suspended volume, a generous covered space allows for outdoor living and parking. Each architectural element placed in the square plan is specifically designed for the simple house.
Casa CCFF is an eco-friendly urban house overlooking Geneva’s industrial train station. Using economical materials and prefabrication, it reduces the construction costs to the minimum. Developed with engineer Marc Walgenwitz, the house is built almost entirely in wood, pushing the structural capacities of this natural material to ...

Its lightweight design features three separate containers, two with sealable lids, that keep food fresh and protected until you’re ready to eat. Text description provided by the architects. The original pre-1946 house that occupied the site had previously been used as a boarding house. It had been raised and all verandahs were enclosed. The living spaces were internalised and segregated and there was little connection between outside and inside.

The renovation works sought to bring light, tactility and connectivity to an otherwise dreary and rundown house. I love the organic and natural element that plants bring into a home but truth be told, I’m the worst person when it comes to keeping a plant alive. I’m pretty sure I have the world’s blackest green thumb! In my search for adding more greenery into my home, I discovered that these wall hangings from Society6 in the theme of foliage would add just the right amount of texture AND nature to the empty space above my fireplace.
