At this year’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), surface leaders <a href="https://www.cosentino.com/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Cosentino</a> and Italian furniture manufacturer <a href="http://feedproxy.google.com/www.riva1920.it/it/home/" rel="nofollow noopener" data-wpel-link="internal">Riva 1920</a> revealed a collaboration that might just change how you think about bathrooms. Designed by architect and designer <a href="https://danielgermanidesigns.com/" rel="nofollow noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Daniel Germani</a>, <a href="https://danielgermanidesigns.com/portfolio/dekauri-bespoke-bath-credenza/" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Dekauri</a> is a freestanding bathroom vanity that hides away a sink, storage, mirror, and lighting behind two doors that slide into the sides. The credenza is crafted out of 50,000-year-old Kauri wood adding a storied past to this modern concept.
Wanting to re-think bathroom design, Germani managed to ensconce mundane necessities within a beautiful package utilizing Dekton by Cosentino
and Kauri wood, which was salvaged from New Zealand after being buried under mud for thousands of years. With the doors closed, it stands as a piece of furniture that aims to be a “modern day heirloom” that can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Daniel Germani says:
When it comes to the
there are ingenious, innovative design solutions to hide and store everything. But that’s not always the case in the bathroom. I realized bathroom storage has at its core remained the same.
DeKauri can also be made with inlays of Walnut, Wenge, and Cedar.
