The challenge listed only a few simple criteria to abide by: the form factor must be sized for the desk, includes an on/off button or switch, operates by battery or USB power, articulates, and incorporates blades to move air in a variety of directions. Designers were welcomed to use all varieties of design software to articulate their idea, ranging from a sketch, to Photoshop, to even a Google spreadsheet.
